With nine current member camps, over 700 siblings each year spend a life altering week at camp each summer, building memories and bonds to last a lifetime. Each Camp To Belong has several former campers who participate as Counselors in Training, or, having gradu- ated training, become counselors themselves. According to a 1997 National Center for Policy Analysis Report, 1 in 4 children spend 4.3 years or more in foster care, and 1 in 10 remains in state custody for more than 7 years. The average child in foster care today is 8 % years old. He/she will remain in substitute care for approximately 33 months; will be required to transition through multiple housing placements, and lives apart from at least one sibling.
