Content can go viral on the web and in a short period of time through self replicating processes awareness is achieved. The problem with going viral is that often times the control is not always in the hands of the person or entity wanting to generate a buzz. Going bacterial is a term used to describe a process in which attention is generated through pre-existing social media. Going bacterial is not always as widespread as viral but it still gets the message out.
