FAMILIES IN NEED Helping Families with Low Food Security Approximately one in six Americans suffer from low food security, which means that 15% of Americans constantly worry about feeding themselves and their families. AIL and the Food for Families campaign help feed hundreds of thousands of hungry Americans through their food bank donations. Learn about the effects of hunger, how food banks can help feed families in need, and what AIL is doing to help combat hunger in America. WHAT IS FOOD SECURITY? Pounds of food donated... 2010 15,000 2011 41,360 Children require Each adult requires 4 pounds of food per day 2.5 pounds of food per day The Home Office of AlIL has donated enough food to Central Texas' Food for Families program to feed 1 family of 4 daily for nearly 12 years! Or to feed 4,335 families of 4 for 1 day every year. Every family an AIL agent visits is encouraged to donate one canned good to help those in need in their community.
