The Evolution of Strip Poker Video Games

EVOLUTION OF TR Strip Poker VideoGames Krr Jr 10 INTRODUCTION For as long as there have been video games, there has been a concentrated effort to allow people to live out their fantasies in digital form. Considering that in the beginning video game design and use was dominated by men, it was a natural progression that "adult" games like strip poker were developed. THE COMMODORE 64 ERA Surprisingly, strip poker and erotic video games were very popular in the early days of computing and the Commodore 64 had a variety of strip poker games. The strip poker genre has had a surprisingly long lifespan on platforms ranging from the Commodore 64 to the Nintendo Wii. Here's a look at the most "important" strip poker games released. Artworx Strip Poker Apple II, Commodore 64, 1982 Widely considered the grandfather of strip poker games, Strip Poker by Artworx was originally released for the Apple 2 but was quickly added to other platforms including the Commodore 64 and later the Amiga. The game was Five-Card Draw, as was standard in that era, and you could compete against Suzi and Melissa. 1980 Strip Poker Core Amstad CPC, 1985 Core's Strip Poker was unique in that there was no betting, raising or folding. In fact, no money was involved at all. After you were dealt your hand you could change your cards once but only if you had an ace. Then you simply compared hands with opponent Marilyn. Nudity Level: 305 Hager Bet Artworx Strip Poker II (Amiga, DOS/EGA, 1988) Seminal strip poker video game maker Artworx released a photo-enhanced version of its original Strip Poker game in 1988. The game was little more than a re-release of the original game but the graphics were vastly improved Nudity Level: FULL Poker Ladies 1990 (Neo Geo, 1989) Likely the only strip poker to come outin the arcade, there's still a good chance you didn't find Poker Ladies in yourlocal arcade as ithadavery limited release.This game was much more similar to a casino video poker game as you won points if you could beat a pair of jacks Nudity Level: FULL |HollywS00 FOT 150 000 Topless 050 Peek-A-Boo Poker (Nintendo, 1991) Panesian released three "adult" games for the original Nintendo including Bubble Babes, Hot Slots and Peek-A-Boo Poker. Peek-A-Boo Poker featured a rudimentary Five-Card Draw game with delightfully named opponents including Full House Francine, Double Dealing Debby and Pok-er Penny. Its limited release has Artworx Strip Poker III Hollywood Poker Pro (Commodore G4, Amiga, Atari ST, 1989) Hollywood Poker Pro shook things up in the video game strip poker world by switching your hand to the right side of the screen so that there was more room for pictures of the female opponents in the middle. This allowed models to pose in a variety of ways instead of just laying down. This was the first strip poker game that digitized speech and also offered three different female opponents. The package came with a number of files but it was up to the player to actually put the game together.
