A new rear suspension sway bar improved the car's handliling. Buyers could choose from eight exterior colors. The majority of 1960 Corvettes, 50.1 percent, were sold with a detachable hardtop. 1962 C1 CORVETTE ROADSTER Production Total: 14,531 Shipping Weight: 2,925 lb Factory Price: $4,038 The wheels were available in Black, Beige, Red, Silver, or Maroon. For the first time since 1955 Corvettes were offered in solid colors only. The most noticeable changes for 1962 were the removal of the side cover chrome trim, a blacked-out grille and ribbed chrome rocker panel molding. 1969 C3 CORVETTE STINGRAY Production Total: 22.129 Shipping Weight: 3,091 lb Factory Price: $4,420 Shes Buyers had their choice of 10 exterior colors. The ignition was now on the steering column and the door depression button used in 1968 was eliminated. After a year's absence, the Stingray name (now spelled as one word) reappeared on the front fenders. Front and rear disc brakes, headlight washers, center console, wheel trim rings, carpeting, and all-vinyl upholstery were standard. 1980 C3 CORVETTE SPORT COUPE Production Total: 40,614 Shipping Weight: 3,206 lb Factory Price: $13,140 The 1980 Corvette was more streamlined and lost close to 250 pounds. The Corvette hoods had a new low profile. In California, Corvette buyers could only get the 305-cid V-8 with automatic transmission this year. The dashboard carried new 85-mph speedometer. 1992 C4 CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE CC Production Total: 5,875 Shipping Weight: 3,263 lb Factory Price: $40,145 A Traction Control system became standard equipment along with new Goodyear GS-C tires. Corvette models used the aforementioned more powerful 5.7-liter V-8 fitted with the four-speed overdrive automatic or optional six-speed manual transmission. Chevy was the first manufacturer to build one million sports cars.
