The Dental Implant Process
The Dental Implant Process Step The part of the jaw bone where the tooth has been lost is 1 covered by a layer of oral soft tissue. The soft tissue layer is retracted to expose the bone. The bone Step 2. is then prepared to to place the implant. Step The implant is placed into the, now, socket, and allowed to heal for 2-4 months At the end of the healing period, the soft tissue is uncovered to place an extension called an abutment where the implant will be placed. The soft tissue is allowed to heal for another 2-4 weeks. Step Step The prosthetic tooth is constructed and connected to the implant. The patient can now chew with the implant supported by the new tooth.

How does a dental implant work? This infographic discusses the steps that a patient and dentist takes for a dental implant. The process is a 5 step process. It involves removing the damaged tooth then...
replacing it with a screw-like implant. The gums are then allowed to heal over the implant, an augment is placed after the healing is complete, and a prosthetic tooth is placed over it.
