Critical Social media mistakes

3ocial media critical mistakes you're making f Jab, Jab, Jab Right in Hook Su You Tube Social media is a lot like boxing, according to author Gary Vaynerchuk, whose latest book, Jab, Jab, Jab Right Hook, explains the strategy behind providing value multiple times before trying to "make your ask." Below are some of the most common social media mistakes Vaynerchuk sees companies making, and tips to recognize and fix them. 140 characters You're speaking the wrong language. Social content is unique for each platform or network. Your goal should be to seamlessly blend your message into each platform's unique style. For example, post animated GIFS on Tumblr and short, witty statements on Twitter. Your advertising strategy is outdated. Today's effective marketing is all about blending into the flow of entertainment. Don't interrupt people's social media experience with jarring ads. Instead, use entertaining photos or videos to catch their attention. SAL You're using too much "right hook." In other words, you're making too many sales pitches. Share great content ("jab") without making it obvious you're selling a product or service. 4 You're trying to create the waves. The best approach to marketing is to ride the wave, not try to create it. Make sure to check out which items are trending on Twitter, and join the conversation instead of trying to force your own. Your tweets are invisible. If you start your tweets with "@," they're invisible on your followers' streams unless they follow that tagged handle, too. You can fix this by leaving the @ symbol out or preceding it with a period. You think Snapchat is a fad. With 400 million messages sent per day and a core audience between the ages of 13 and 25, you can't afford to ignore this new social platform. Marketers who are willing to venture into uncharted territory often reap the most rewards. 6. You think you're Don Draper. Don Draper, from the television show Mad Men, was able to devote his entire career to print and television advertising. Today, marketing is in a constant stage of change. You have to stay current and make sure your social media time counts. www.fastcompany.com Article: 7 CRITICAL MISTAKES YOU'RE (ALMOST CERTAINLY) MAKING ON SOCIAL BBIGSHOT MEDIA INBOUND
