The Center for Popular Democracy is working on over 40 projects, in 22 states, with more than 90 partner organizations. Here we highlight eight. COMBATTING WAGE THEFT COMMUNITY RADIO PROJECT CPD is working with local partners to replicate the successful community radio station, Radio Marimiento, run by PCUN, Oregon's union of farmworkers. Community radio can dramatically expand outreach, recruitment, community education, and mobkization capacity in low-income and immigrant communities. Working with Prometheus Radio, CPD is supporting local partners to initiate the process of creating community-run radio stations across the cou ntry. KEY ARTNERS Promat haus Raddo Building on our successfulwork to strengthen New York State Law, CPD is providing legal and strategy support on cam paigns across the country to combat wage theft, address industry-specific la bor law violations, and improve agency enforcement of minimum wage and overtime laws. WAREHOUSE WORKER ORGANIZING Wage theft, unsafe working conditions, a nd labor law violations are rampant in many of the large warehouses that store goods in transit to large big box stores like Walmart. CPD is providing legal, organizing and fundraising support to the workers centers orga nizing this workforce in the three major U.S. hubs for goods movement. The network aims to share best practices, policies and strategies. CPD helped coordinate the founding gathering of the networkand will provide ongoing campaign, legal and policy support. KEY PARTNERS PulcLeadar shipinsttute PROMOTING EQUAL ACCESS TO KEY SERVICES In many vital a reas-education, health care, government benefits, police & safety-communities of color face barriers and discrimination based on race, ethnicity and language. CPD is supporting local and national partners on campaigns to eliminate bias-based policing, promote multilingual access to government and health services, and ensure high-quality, participatory public education. EAST COAST PROGRESSIVE POWER INITIATIVE CPD is collaborating with strong union, community organiz ing, and policy partners on the east coast to build a multifaceted regioral organizing infrastructure to promote a pro-worker, pro-immig rant, racial justice agenda. As part of this initiative CPD coordinated a fall campaign to educate tens of thousands of voters about Pennsybrania's regressive voter ID law, and to register 7,200 Latino and African America n voters in Reading and Allentown, PA.
