COSTLY IN-APP PURCHASES In-app purchases are common in games apps. The game itself is usually free to download, but the user is then encouraged to buy secondary, in-game purchases. These unlock features or can be used as currency within the game. SO WHAT'S THE PROBLEM? Children have been able to purchase 'game currencies' without their parents' knowledge or permission while playing game applications that are advertised as 'free'. This has largely been down to Apple's in-app A purchase system. Click 'See All' under the 'Purchase History' section. Click the grey arrow to the left of the 'Order Date'. Click the 'Report a Problem' button. A column titled 'Report a Problem' will appear with a list of apps purchased that day. Click 'Report a Problem' next to the app you need refunding. Select the reason you are contacting Apple. Enter detailed comments requesting a refund and the reasons why in the "Comments' section and click 'Next'. HOW TO STOP IT HAPPENING TO YOU PROTECT YOUR PASS WORDS SUPERVISE YOUR CHILDREN Children are smart and they can remember passwords! Make sure you change your passwords regularly and always keep them hidden from your children. Make sure you know what they are downloading, and any associated costs which may be included. RESTRICT IN-APP PURCHASES WITH A PASSWORD/PIN APPLE ANDROID WINDOWS Tap Settings > General > Restrictions, then choose whether you need to input your password every time you make a purchase. Set a Pin with your Google Play account. All purchases will then require the Pin.
