All but 4 states have signed on to use the Common Core State Standards as a framework for teaching English/language arts and mathematics in schools. Today, two assessment consortia—PARCC and Smarter Balanced—are working with $360 million in federal Race to the Top money to develop tests aligned with those standards. Forty-four states plus the District of Columbia have signed on to participate in at least one consortia. This graphic gives you a state-by-state breakdown of consortia membership.
