Color will impact our daily decisions in the new year, from the food we eat to the clothes we wear. Understanding how color influences human emotion is essential to interior design. Take command over these hues and set the mood in your home and workplace to strike a balance between comfort and productivity.



Palette of Emotions



Red- Positive color associated with leadership, ambition and determiniation. It is the color of physical desires.



Pink- Color of unconditional love, compassion and intimacy.



Purple- Represents imagination; expands awareness and connects us to deeper thoughts.



Blue- Trust, honesty, and loyalty define this color. It is very reserved and reliable.



Green- The great balancing color, Green creates a stable environment between energy and emotion.



Yellow- The color of knowledge and enthusiastic creativity. It offers hope, happiness and fun.



Battle of the Sexes

57% of Men- Blue is the most popular color among men and women.

35% Women gravitate toward soft colors and prefer tints over shades.



Men prefer bold colors with an emphasis on achromatic tones.



Tints vs. Shades

Shades are colors with black added.

Tints are colors with white added.

Achromatic is an adjective that means ���free of color.�۝



Styles for Girls



Accessories- Tall accessories in an accent color add diversity and style to a room.



Brown- The color or earth; the lighter shade of brown with cream accent represent our connection to the land and give a feeling of stability.



Blue- The color blue promotes physical and mental relaxation. It can be used to ease stress and add calmness to a room.



For the Guys

Accessories- Grunt. Wood. Grunt. Seriously though, a few simple man-approved accessories can add depth and warmth to a room.



Black- In clothing, black is often defined as a seductive color, and in a room, black can be used to stir up emotions of strength and authority.



Green- As the color of life, it is only natural that using green as an accent can expand a room�۪s vitality and emulate an organic quality.
