COLLEGE STUDETS & ALCOHOL ABUSE Full-time students are at least 2x more likely to engage in heavy drinking during their college ýears. 1/5 2 OUT OF 5 1 out of every 5 college students is consídered a heavy drinker. college students report regular binge drinking. STUDENT EXPENSES ON ALCOHOL HAVE RISEN OVER 20 % IN THE LAST 10 YEARS. Frequent alcohol use for one student costs $5,000 per year, if not more, when factoring in hard liquors. %24 In the Past 10 Years, the amount of students admitting to binge drinking over 10 times per month has gone up nearly 30%. Since the early 90s DURING THE 2000s the amount of students injured from alcohol-related incidents has risen alcohol-related arrests on and off campus, including drunk driving incidents, have risen more than 20%. 38% DUI convictions, on average, can raise car insurance rates at least 3x higher. With all the studying and hard work students put into college classes, it's undérstandable for them to want to get away and party now and then. Unfortunately, it seems that studěnts are investing in more than an education. Alcohol abuse among students is risiñg, costing them countless amounts of money while setting the foundătion for lifelong addictions.
