Whether you spend 50 minutes or several hours in a particular learning environment, both students and faculty benefit from a variety of seating choices. Some seating can be comfortable, like a reading corner with pillows. Others can be more corporate, representing seriousness towards the task at hand. Encouraging student movement throughout the learning space may be helpful for improved productivity . Place supplies in various areas. Put papers, markers, tape, etc. in one location. Have a library in another. Make a quiet area for contemplative work and a more social area for cooperative work.
