Smoking related illnesses are the number one preventable disease in America today yet the tobacco industry remains one of the most profitable industries with tobacco giant Phillip Morris coming in as the 94th most profitable company according to Fortune 500. While cigarette sales and production in America are declining China still remains strong with 2.29 trillion cigarettes produced in 2009. The debate around cigarettes and smoking continues to be a global debate as many countries pass legislation against smoking and many people around the world continue to smoke.
