Following the awful events at Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, we face some difficult decisions as to how best protect children at school. The NRA has suggested adding armed security guards to each school but surely that is cost prohibitive to school budgets already underfunded and squeezed to breaking points. Some argue that guns should be banned outright but surely the genie is already well and truly out of the bottle so all the wishful thinking in the world will not remove the swathe of guns from our streets. Instead one option we should consider is allowing teachers to be armed. That is why I was commissioned to make this infographic looking at the arguments for such a scenario.
