n honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this year, we wanted to take a look back at some of the most important breakthroughs that have been made over the history of breast cancer research.

If it weren’t for these historical landmarks, we wouldn’t know mammography is an effective method of detecting early-stage breast cancer or that there were better treatment alternatives to radical mastectomy. Hopefully, you take a few minutes to absorb some of this knowledge, and remember to wear some pink in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
