Always wear a helmet Bicycle helmets can reduce the risk of injury by 33% Follow the rules of the road STOP Not only do bicyclists legally have to follow all the same rules of the road as motorists, but following the rules of the road can actually be safer for bicyclists Signal before making lane changes Just like for cars, signaling on a bike tells other motorists your intended path of travel. Know your bike hand signals Wear bright or fluorescent clothing during the daytime Wear reflective clothing when riding at night – don't wear black! Use flashing front and rear headlights when riding at night Place lights higher up on bicycle for increased visibility Keep at least one hand on the handlebars at all times It's the law!
