Bankers Bonuses

Bankers' Bonuses SELECTED HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE UK BANKING SCANDAL There has been controversy over how big a bonus major UK banks should give their staff and key executives. With many banks now facing huge losses, and their share prices having dropped sharply, critics question whether bankers deserve such pay-outs. In the past, bonus payments have made up a substantial part of the income of bankers, and have risen from £5bn to £15bn in the past three years. The controversy is even sharper over banks which have received the most public money, such as RBS and Lloyds TSB. 2009 Pre-tax Profits BARÇLAYS Total bankers' bonuses in 2006: £5 billion Total bankers' bonuses in 2009: £15 billion Entire UK Agricultural Industry Revenue in 2009: £15 billion Profits Bonuses СЕО иаде E1.1 million E11.6 £4.4 billion billion HSBC £8,500,000 5 months work HSBC chairman in 2007 Profits £9.6 billion 167 years continuous work Employee on minimum wage Bonuses £1.5 billion CEO wage E1.07 million Lloyds TSB £ £17.5 billion 2008 tax-payer cash injection to Lloyds £1.04 million CEO of Lloyds 2008 salary £3.8 million Bonuses ofits -£6.3 billion CEO wage £1.04 million £200 million CEO of Lloyds shares given in 2008 RBS £11.5 million value of private jet owned by RBS for board members' exclusive use 25,000 people could commute to work in the UK for Profits -£3.6 billion Bonuses CEO wage £1.6 £1.6 a year for that amount of money billion million Pre-tax Profits Timeline 13th October 2008 £17 billion given to Lloyds TSB to purchase HBOS BARCLAYS £12 billion 2004: £4.6 bn 2005: £5.28 bn 2006: £714 bn 2007: £7.02 bn 2008: £6,08 bn 2009: Eu.6 bn HSBC 2004: £10.8 bn 2005: Eu.7 bn 2006: E12 br 2007.
