THE ANATOMY OF

A Great Resume

DOES YOUR RESUME GET HIT ON ALL THE TIME?

You've Got Some Competition Honey!

1 in 10 receive 100 resumes per job listing

WHAT ARE HR MANAGERS LOOKING FOR IN CANDIDATES?

77% say relevant experience

48% say specific accomplishments

41% say whether or not the resume was

customized to the open position

HR MANAGERS ALSO LOOK FOR KEYWORDS IN RESUMES:

Problem solving - - -56%

Leadership-----44%

Oral/written

communication------40%

Team building -------33%

Performance and

productivity

improvement -----------31%

Writing a great

resume does not

mean you should

follow all the

rules you hear

Every resume is

a one-of-a-kind

marketing

communication

It should be

appropriate to

your situation

and do exactly

what you want

it to do

Pump up that Resume

3 TIPS TO MAKE IT SEXY

1. SUMMARIZE!

(BABBLING IS NOT HOT)

Begin with a summary on your unique value

Tell employers who you are

Talk about your skills and quallメᄆcatlons

A good summary can be used as the basis for this interviewer favorite: ハラモTell me about yourselfハラン

2. CONFIDENCE!

(EVERYONE IS ATTRACTED TO CONFIDENCE!)

Talk about your accomplishments

Tell employers how youve made a difference in

current/previous roles

This is not the time for humility.

3. WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE!

(SO SELF ABSORBED_NO THANKS)

Dont start sentences with I, We or Our

Dont even use full sentences

Bullet points with strong actions verbs have more

impact

4. KEYWORDS ARE KEY

(TALK NERDY TO ME)

Awful truth: often, resumes are nor even read

Resumes are often scanned either by a person or a machine

They are looking for keywords that match their hiring criteria

Use keywords from the job listing

That's such a turn off
