- The Roatomg of FERR What is fear? A basic survival mechanism in response to pain or threat of danger. Common fears like animals and heights are passed down because humans that were quick to fear dangerous situations were more likely to survive. What happens when you are scared: Pupils dilate to see better Your brain recognizes danger and kicks your body into high gear Breath quickens taking in more oxygen You sweat to cool yourself down Heart beats faster, pumping more blood to your muscles and brain Hair stands on end, making you look larger Adrenalin is released to give you more energy Digestive and urinary system slows down Endorphins are released to dull any pain Some of the most common fears: Heights Water Spiders, mice, snakes and bats Dogs Storms 6. 10 Closed spaces Crowds Needles Public speaking Flying Odd phobias: ABCDI Sesquipedalophobia: Fear of long words Linonophobia: Fear of string Barophobia: Fear of gravity Peanut 6.
