Alternate Energy System

ENERGY SYSTEMS In phase one of the project , the building renewable energy systems are grid tied. In the future, we plan to add equipment that will allow us to operate off the grid. This system is designed to produce an average of 17000 kwh from wind and 16,250 from solar power per year. It's projected that the building will use 30,000 kwh, including all electrical loads and heating and cooling. This means the combined solar and wind system will produce more energy than it will consume. There are 12.5 kw of PV Panels are on the building roof. DC (Direct Current) Electricity flows from the wind turbine Battery Backup and PV panels into 5 different inverters housed in the power shed east of the Bergey XL 10 on a 100 foot tower. It has a 23 building. foot diameter rotor and is rated at 10 kw. Manufactured in Two 2.5kw Sunnyboy Inverters A 3.6kw Outback Norman, Oklahoma. Inverter A 5kw Sunnyboy The inverters Inverter turn the electricity into AC (Alternating Current) which can be used by the building or directed back to the power grid. A 10kw Powersync II Inverter This is currently a grid-tied system. Therefore when it produces more energy than the building is currently consuming, power flows back out into the energy grid. When the system doesn't produce enough energy to meet the building's current needs, power is drawn from the energy grid.

A local university needed diagrsams explaining how their new energy-efficient building structure worked. This is one of a series of 8 posters. I made all the diagrams based on verbal descriptions an...
