Summit BECHTEL RESERVE" For the month of July, Arrowmen came to the New River Gorge to build hiking and biking trails for the local community. Here's how it all went down. Cheerful Service Each Scout repredents 100 1,022 Arrowmen 382 adult volunteers 78,544 hours of community service 12.8 miles of trail How It Was Done miles of flags showed where to make the trail Arrowmen cleared, bench cut, then added finishing touches to the trail. A 1,500 pound rock was moved from the trail Do A Good Turn Daily worth of non-perishable food was donated to local $25,200.00 $15,409.50 food banks was raised and donated from all of the patch auctions How NPS Benefitted $1.6M 10 years It would've cost the National Park Service $1.6 million to complete this project without help from the Arrowmen. It also would've taken NPS nearly 10 years to complete all of the trail the Scouts have volunteered to create. And as a thank you, the National Park Service named the trail after the Arrowmen that helped build it.
