80'S/90'S/00'S WHAT SHAPED TOMORROW'S SHAPERS? We are products of our past. What moulded us in our youth will most likely be the biggest influence of our future. And everything that we do today will in turn, shape the world of tomorrow. So looking back, what shaped us to become who we are today? How are generations who essentially spawned from their previous iterations become so different from each other? AN OVERVIEW OF 80'S-00'S KIDS 1. Frequently referred to as "Millenials" Y¾ : ¼Z 4. 2. % of Millenials belong to the Generation Y, while 4 belongs to the newest Generation, the Generation Z www 3. Born in the "Internet age" 4. Currently comprises 30% of the world's workforce. 5. Also known as the "Echo Boomers", they will overtake the number of Baby Boomers by the end of the year, officially becoming the most populous generation ever. 6. Likes to take risks and make a name for themselves 7. Prefers e-communication rather than calling online 8. Would rather prefer face-to-face interactions when it comes to financial decisions 9. Prefer to work in teams. 10. With unlimited access to information, they tend to be opinionated & assertive. 11. Envision the world as a 24/7 place; want fast and immediate processing. 12. They have been told over and over again that they are special, and they expect the world to treat them that way. 13. They do not live to work; they prefer a more relaxed work environment with a lot of hand holding and accolades. 80'S KIDS 80s kids have been present at the start of the technological revolution. Some have made fortunes from it. A few have already become billionaires. 80s kids grew up with technology, so being connected and tech savvy is in their DNA. Equipped with latest technology and gadgets, such as iPhones, laptops and, lately tablets. Many of them grew up seeing their parents working day and night doing stressful corporate jobs, which has shaped their own views on the workforce and the need for work-life balance. A report by Sparks & Honey, a US advertising agency, describes this generation as the "first tribe of true digital natives" or"screenagers". But unlike the older Gen Ys, they are smarter, safer, more mature and want to change the world. They are keen to volunteer and aware that an education is to be treasured.
