"Write down your clear and attainable goals," says White, founder of AcctPier Business Solutions, LLC. “Putting pen to paper helps make you more accountable and can keep you on track. Set both short- and long-term goals to serve as your roadmap to success." 3: BE PATIENT. Mary Barra didn't start her career as the CEO of General Motors. "Things take time; being patient allows us to accept things, decide what's working and look for ways to grow or modify our business," says Polisky, founder of Nutrition Tango and Words & Health, LLC. “Every experience can offer a new skill, so approach each job as a learning opportunity and continuously work to sharpen your skills and the foundation on which you build them." 4: TAKE A RISK!! Two heads are better than Polisky advises that once you know relationship with a mentor so you have one: Foster a what you want to do, take the leap. Find a new job, career or passion. someone to confide in when things get tough. Be brave and bold; if anything, it will make you stand out. 5: PERSEVERE. "When times get tough, approach things from a different angle or perspective. Surround yourself with positive thoughts and people. You may have more failures than successes, but the successes will ultimately be richer," says White.
