You already know that spray foam insulation is one of the best ways to safely insulate your home, while also creating an effective sound barrier if you need one. Spray foam also has a multitude of oth...
er uses around the home, and here are our 4 favorite creative uses for this versatile insulation material.
Packing Professional
Moving to another city or state is rated as one of the most stressful experiences you can have. Your stress levels can double especially when you're worrying about valuable personal items being damaged in transit. For the maximum protection for your valuables just fill a baggy with spray foam, and then press your valuables into the bag, allowing the foam to set around it. Hey presto, you now have customized foam packaging for that item.
Repel Rodents
If you have squirrels, mice or rats roaming around inside your home then you can seal their points of entry with a quick burst of spray foam. Using sections of chicken wire as part of your plan will ensure your home is rodent-free because they're not going to be able to chew through foam reinforced with wire.
Loose Handles
You know that door handle that rattles all the time and drives you nuts, but no matter how often you tighten the screws it keeps rattling? Remove the screws for the handle, and then inject some spray foam through those holes and let it set. You now have a perfectly solid base to screw your handle to, and that annoying rattle will become a thing of the past.
Pipe Down
Every home has at least one pipe that makes so much noise it can keep you awake at night - you live in fear of somebody flushing the toilet at 3am because you know the resulting noise is going to wake you up. A really simple solution is to coat the offending pipe(s) with spray foam, and you'll never be bothered by that noise again.
