10 of the Most Iconic Movie Trucks

10 OF THE MOST ICONTC MOVIE TRUCKS This is no James Bond car infographic. There are no special weapons or turbo boosts here. Just pure smoke and steel. Let's meet some of the big boys of the road. "Pork Chop Express" BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA Originally set in the old west, the film was to be about a man who has his 1986 horse stolen. But be it a horse or a truck.. What would ol' Jack Burton be without his trusty steed? The film that kickstarted the career of Peterbilt 281 Steven Spielberg started out as a TV movie, based on the writer's real life experience. DUEL 1971 OFi DLUEL "Ru bher Duck" As the title suggests, there are many trucks CONVOY that feature in the film. But the leader of the pack was custom designed by the filmmakers for that iconic look. 1978 1987 Kenworth W-900 LICENCE TO KILL Whilst no Bond cars feature here, the man himself had to turn up somewhere. 1989 And who else but '007' could perform a wheelie with a huge Kenworth truck? Technically, this custom 'Mack' truck isn't known as 'The Road Warrior' in the film. This accolade refers to its title character. "The Road Warrior" But what else can you call this beast? MAD MAX 2 1989 "The Green Goblin" MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE Taking the face of Spiderman villain, the Green Goblin, this truck is one of 1986 the more memorable entries on the list. However, writer Stephen King received a 'Razzie' nomination for the film as "worst director", and hasn't stepped behind the camera since. Jerry Reed, who plays the character Cledus "Snowman" Snow was also a successful country music singer/songwriter and wrote the theme song for the film in just a few hours. "Snowman's Rig" SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT 1977 1987 Freightliner FLA 9664 TERMINATOR 2- JUDGMENT DAY The first of numerous trucks to appear in the film has its top ripped off during the early 1991 storm drain scene. This wasn't in the original script, but as the truck wouldn't fit under the overpass they had to improvise. It isn't the only living truck on the list, but instead represents the only entry to be extraterrestrial in origin. "Optimus Prime" TRANSFORMERS 2007 Leader of the 'Autobots' and hailing from the planet 'Cybertron'. Needless to say, there's more to this one than meets the eye. D600 "Blue Mule" The dark horse of the group. Although not much is known about the 'Blue Mule', it seems to be a popular choice amongst fans. It is driven in the movie by Jan-Michael Vincent, who would later go on to star in the television series; 'Airwolf'. WHITE LINE FEVER BLUE MYLE 1975 They may not be the fastest vehicles on the road, but it'll certainly take some doing to take them down. So give them your best shot, pal...they can handle it.
