Studying overseas has gradually increased in popularity over the past 10 years, as more institutions increase their support for students enrolling in subjects abroad. During the 2009/10 academic year, 270,604 US students studied abroad for credit. This number was 4% more than the previous year, and almost double the number of students studying abroad from 2000/ 01.
